Memorial for 54 Martyrs Inaugurated at Jehanabad

A Martyrs’ Memorial has been erected commemorating 54 comrades who sacrificed their lives for the people’s movement in Jehanabad. Incidentally, of these 54 comrades, only 7 were killed by the landlord army/Bhoomi Sena; the rest were killed by the anarchist Party Unity and People’s War Group. The Memorial was inaugurated by Comrade KD Yadav on October 28 after a massive people’s march which was held from Jehanabad to Issebigaha. A Pledge-taking meet was also organised which was addressed by the CPI(ML) CC member and AIALA General Secretary Rameshwar Prasad.

After our Party’s performance in last Zila Parishad elections in this region, the PWG has heightened attacks on us at the behest of ruling RJD combine. PWG here is merely an outfit of RJD and regularly organizes attacks on dalit tolas. The landlords and goons who initially operated through Bhoomi Sena now operate through the PWG.

Even during the construction of this memorial, PW goons attacked and beat up women in Kharauna village and threatened poor people in many villages. But these tactics failed to deter a large number of rural poor and agricultural labourers who enthusiastically participated in the inauguration and in the pledge-taking meeting.

After the inauguration of the Martyrs’ Memorial and the Issebigaha March, all party units in the district have started padyatras to prepare for the November 30 Jan Sankalp Rally to be held in Patna.
