COMRADE CHARU MAZUMDAR

Martyred - July 28, 1972

"A party that firmly bases itself on the thought of chairman Mao Tse-tung; that is composed of lakhs of workers peasants and middle-class youth imbued with the spirit of sacrifice; one where the members enjoy full inner-party democracy for criticism and self criticism and abide by party discipline out of their own free will; a party that not only obeys the instructions coming from above but also judges these independently and does not hesitate if necessary for the sake of revolution, to disobey wrong instructions; a party where every member comes forward to take up responsi-bilities on their own and attach equal importance to all work, big or small; one whose members themselves practise the Marxist-Leninist ideal in their own lives and thereby encourage the masses for higher levels of activism and for greater sacrifices; a party where the members never lose heart and boldly go forward to solve the hardest of problems in the most difficult situations — only such a party can build a united front of people belonging to different classes and holding diverse views. Such a revolutionary party alone can lead the Indian revolution to victory."

[From "The task of Building the Revolutionary Party Must be Taken UP Immediately", October 1967]
