New Delhi, 29 March 1999.

The CPI(ML) activists and supporters took out a protest march today against the NATO-sponsored air attacks on Yugoslavia and performed the funeral rites of the NATO by burning its multi-headed effigy at Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi. Protesters were shouting slogans like : "Stop air attacks on Yugoslavia, Dismantle NATO" and "Yesterday it was Iraq, today it is Yugoslavia, Western imperialism is World's No.1 Enemy".

The march started from Mandi House in the city and covering Barakhamba Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Jantar Mantar it reached Parliament Street Police Station where the marchers organised a meeting and burnt the effigy of NATO. The meeting was addressed among others by CPI(ML) Central Committee members BB Pandey, Swapan Mukherjee, Party's Delhi State Secretary Rajendra Pratholi and AISA General Secretary Ranjit Abhigyan.

The speakers strongly condemned the attack on Yugoslavia and branding NATO as a "terrorist organisation of the US-led Western imperialism" demanded to stop the attacks on sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yugoslavia. Speakers also called for dismantling the NATO. They also condemned the role of the UN in this regard and charged it of being "a puppet in the hands of Western imperialist powers".
